Météo France has issued a yellow vigilance alert, signaling a “weather situation to monitor” due to the risk of heavy rain, flooding and thunderstorms. This alert covers the period from Saturday November 9 at 6 a.m. until Sunday November 10 at 6 a.m., with the possibility of extension.
Forecasts indicate that slow moving storms could hit the coast, the Eastern Plain as well as Cap Corse throughout the day of Saturday November 9 and during the night from Saturday to Sunday. These storms would be accompanied by intense precipitation, reaching 30 to 50 millimeters per hour. Under the most persistent storm cells, accumulations could reach 80 to 100 millimeters.
Safety Tips
In the event of increased precipitation, the level of vigilance could be raised. Faced with these conditions, the Haute-Corse prefecture calls for the greatest caution and reminds the safety instructions to be respected:
- Slow down speed on the road
- Do not, under any circumstances, take a submerged route.
- Stay at home, if possible
- Do not shelter under a tree
- Store sensitive and potentially damaged items
- Report fire outbreaks following lightning without delay
- Keep up to date with developments
