The political uproar plays out both nationally and locally. The discussions never end in recent days to find out who the candidates will be for the 2024 legislative elections on June 30 and July 7.

Will leave or not leave? Between political and personal interestsnational or local alliance, where are we?

While the opening of the submission of applications has started, The South-Gironde Republican takes stock of the situation in the 12e constituency of Gironde, between Réolais, Entre-deux-Mers and Créonnais.

To the right

On the Republican side, Bastien Mercier, candidate in 2022, made his decisionafter surveying his electorate.

He knows that he will not bring together not enough voices to reach the second round and win these elections. Itherefore decided not to be a candidate.

There are too many issues at stake to do anything and only think about your interests.

Bastien Mercier, mayor of Camiran

According to our information, part of his electorate told him that he would choose to vote for the National Rally or for Bruno Martyif it is chosen by the Popular Front, but certainly not for La France insoumise.

Bastien Mercier remains concerned about the situation of artisans, traders and farmers, and will remain vigilant about what will be proposed.

He does not wish to give its position on the turn that the 2024 legislative elections will take in a few weeks.

I feel bad for my country. My choice would be not to make my choice given the situation. And I have no lessons to give to voters, I respect their choices, they know what they have to do.

To the left

It is on the left that all eyes are turned. For the moment, there is still no candidate to officially declare. The battle rages and is played between the 7e constituency and the 12e constituency.

Public square wishes absolutely have the constituency of Entre-deux-Mers, to invest Bruno Marty as a candidate, popular figure of the territory.

But the Socialist Party, represented by the president of the Region, Alain Rousset, for his part, wishes to invest a candidate of the regional council in the 7e which represents Pessac and Gradignan. The discussions have not stopped for two days.

Who from Place Publique or the Socialist Party will give up one or the other constituency before the other?

These discords could well benefit LFIrepresented by the 2022 candidate Mathilde Feld, who is ready to go on the campaign trail to represent the union of the left, Popular Front, in the 12e.

We put aside our resentments to launch a Popular Front campaign.

Mathilde Feld, LFI 2022 candidate

If she is chosen, she does not wish not form a 100% LFI pair, and wishes to be with a candidate from either the Ecologists, the Communist Party, the Place publique or the Socialist Party. “The most logical choice to give the territory a chance, given the figures, would be to choose Bruno Marty. »

This is also what Christophe Miqueu, mayor of Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, thinks, who declared do not run for office no matter what happens.

He wishes to prioritize his local mandate until 2026:

Also, to avoid any speculation that would cause us to collectively waste time when we must act urgently, I wanted to send this message of clarity. And today I appeal to my two colleagues, comrades and friends, Mathilde Feld and Bruno Marty. The most beautiful illustration of the unity being implemented would be for them to say they are ready to unite, hand in hand, to form the Popular Front pair in our constituency: I ask them to do so and they will do so. engaged.

Christophe Miqueu

For his part, Bruno Marty does not wish to form a partnership with Malthilde Feld, whatever happens. “On the ground, we have to work together, and we are too different for that to work. There is the relationship that also plays a role…”

Renaissance

On the side of the presidential majority, Pascal Lavergne, outgoing deputy, was elected in June 2022 in the second round with 50.44% of the votes while Mathilde Feld, the Nupes candidate came out just behind him, with 49.56% of the votes. That’s a difference of 301 votes.

Immediately after the announcement of the dissolution of the National Assembly, MP Renaissance announced on social networks that he was a candidate to his own estate.

He leaves in a pair with Christelle Lapouge, deputy mayor of Salleboeuf, regional councilor and president of the Radical Party of Gironde. They advocate “values of humanism, work, commitment and ready to face the challenges to come and to fight all extremes and their allies. »

RN

On the side of the National Rally, the far-right party, which came first in South Gironde in the European elections, has not yet invested a candidate in the 12e constituency.

According to our information, the 2022 candidate, Hager Jacquemin, elected to the municipal council of Saint-Savin, would not leave for these legislative elections.

If initially it was supposed to be François-Xavier Marques, the former candidate of Reconquête, and butcher, he ultimately decided to become a candidate in the 9ewhere he will move:

It is in this constituency that there are the most farmers, I want to be able to defend their interests in the National Assembly when I am elected deputy, it was more logical.

François-Xavier Marques, RN candidate

He will be paired with Axel Robillard, from Belin-Béliet.
