“The police are on the scene. She kicks the customers out and closes the establishment,” says a regular at Les Voiles. On this first day of official opening of this festive place located on the edge of the lake, in the town of Cologny (GE), the commercial police and the fight against undeclared work (PCTN) intervened on Wednesday early in the evening, in order to proceed with the closure.

“The PCTN had no other choice, because this establishment did not obtain the necessary operating authorizations,” indicates Esther Mamarbachi, responsible for communications at the Department of Economy and Employment (DEE). We remind you that any establishment that wants to operate a terrace needs municipal authorization (editor’s note: Cologny), which in this case was not even requested. And to add: The PCTN also emphasizes that it always draws the attention of an establishment to its obligations before proceeding with a closure.

For their part, Les Voiles deplore this situation on social networks, telling their customers: “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by our temporary closure, beyond our control. We deeply regret the impact on your reservations. (…) We are actively working to resolve the situation.”
