The forecast map for June, July and August shows the predicted probabilities of temperatures below, below and near normal. In Quebec, the color dark red is highlighted on the map.

The map indicates that the closer to dark red, the higher the chance that temperatures will be above normal.

Thus, this summer in Quebec, we expect temperatures warmer than the seasonal norm, with a percentage of 97%, according to the table published by Environment and Climate Change Canada.

As for the west coast of Canada, we expect a cooler than normal summer. The further east of the country we move, the hotter the temperatures will be.

Seasonal precipitation forecast

Regarding precipitation forecasts, Environment and Climate Change Canada remains uncertain.

On the table, the white color is the majority on the Quebec side, since certain factors are missing at the scientific level to give a fair forecast, explains Brigitte Bédard, during her weather segment in TVA News.

In Ontario, the table shows that precipitation will be below seasonal norms. For the west of the country, a rainy and cooler summer is expected.

Environment and Climate Change Canada also presented its new “weather attribution system” for the summer season, we can read in a press release.

This system will “rapidly identify the link between extreme temperatures and human-caused climate change”, in order to “protect the health, safety and property of Canadians”.
