It is a fact, the risk of falling increase with age. With more than 130,000 hospitalizations and nearly 10,000 deaths per year in France, falls represent the leading cause of accidental death for people over 65. To combat this phenomenon, innovative workshops are organized at Nérac in Lot-et-Garonne by the Mutualité Française Nouvelle-Aquitaine (MFNA) from this Thursday, November 7 and until November 28, 2024.
Raise awareness about loss of balance
The MFNA has imagined “P’Art à chute”, four innovative workshops for raise awareness among seniorss to the effects of aging on their sensory abilities et their balance. Accompanied by a prevention professional, a musician, a photographer, a dietitian and a dancing osteopath, participants will experiment in a fun way with the effects of age on their balance.
They will discover how sight, hearing and taste work, and will mobilize their bodies. They will leave with many tips and tricks to preserve their senses and, also, to arrange and secure their interior.
Reserved for over 60s
Thanks to the support of the ARS and the Lot-et-Garonne Conference of Funders for the Prevention of Loss of Autonomy, the workshops are completely free. They are open to all people over 60 years old. To participate, simply register by phone or email.
P'Art à Chute, Samazeuilh center, Antoine de Bourdon room, rue François Baudy, Thursday November 7 with “my balance in motion” (2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.), Thursday November 14 with “my balance in the plate” (2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.), Thursday November 21: with “Listening to my balance” (2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) and finally Thursday, November 28 with the “my balance in sight” workshop (2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.).
