equipment full of success this weekend!

This is the case of Montenvers towards the Mer de Glace in Chamonix and the Salève cable car in Etrembières

These two means of transport closed this weekend for a few weeks. They were packed for their final opening weekend.

In the Chamonix valley, the Montenvers train heading to the Mer de Glace will head into winter from December 1st. Same thing in Geneva for the Salève cable car, which therefore turns the page on the summer season before looking ahead to winter from December 1st. Both facilities attracted people during this last weekend of operation.

+44% attendance this season at Salève

The results of the Salève cable car are very good this season. The equipment took advantage of favorable weather conditions this weekend for its last days of operation before the annual upkeep and maintenance operations. The reopening is scheduled for December 1st. The site recorded more than 11,500 visits this season. This is 44% more than attendance over the same period last year.

Montenvers taken by storm

Big success also for Montenvers in Chamonix towards the Mer de Glace. The rack railway was free this long weekend. A free service requested by the Departmental Council of Haute-Savoie to celebrate its official resumption of operations. The Montenvers attracted crowds with 3,000 passengers per day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday before also closing for maintenance work in November. All the trains were full this weekend, with some disappointments…

The Montenvers Train, known for its route to the Mer de Glace, has belonged to the Haute-Savoie Departmental Council since 1897. He then signed the first concession contract. After 127 years of public service delegation, notably with the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, management now returns to the Department in the form of management.
