The Foundation Board announced this Monday morning the appointment of Frédéric Jaccaud as head of Maison d’Ailleurs in Yverdon. The Lausannois will take office on September 1. In the meantime, Catherine Hirsch will continue to serve as interim head of an institution which has been quite shaken with the departure of its former director Marc Atallah.

Curator of the museum since 2009, passionate about literary margins and cultural transmission, Frédéric Jaccaud intends to affirm the position of our institution in the French-speaking museum landscape. He was appointed following “a demanding selection process which resulted in the submission of numerous applications of excellent quality and supported by two external experts with very good knowledge of current museum issues”, declares the Foundation Board.

Frédéric Jaccaud notably wrote a series of articles revealing the forgotten proto science fiction texts of the early 20th century, and participated in the curation of numerous exhibitions for the Maison d’Ailleurs but also beyond, including “Monstres, fait -scared me!” (2016) for the Rencontres d’Arles photography festival.

Finally, someone who is also a writer has won the Romand Polar Prize in 2019 with “Glory Hole”published in the Série Noire by Gallimard.
