The president of the Federation, Marc-André Amyot, met the Minister of Health and the President of the Treasury Board on Friday afternoon.

Both sides agreed to a break Friday evening to analyze new airstrips to keep the GAP operational.

According to sources, the government does not agree on the definition of support with the FMOQ. On Tuesday, the Minister of Health showed openness, his colleague at the Treasury was less receptive on Friday. The government’s lack of financial room to extend the agreement could explain many things.

The government also accepted a proposal from the FMOQ this Friday so that GMFs can take more patients without an appointment, in order to cushion the impact.

The parties agreed to speak again over the coming days to find a solution.

Remember that the government must negotiate a new salary agreement with general practitioners.

In 2022 Quebec used 300 million from the previous agreement to implement the GAP.

900,000 patients who did not have a family doctor were able to benefit from access under this agreement.

On Saturday the number of time slots for the front line access counter dropped drastically, with doctors refusing to offer availability if they did not receive the bonus of 120 dollars
