Not to be confused with any other mushroom!

Bertrand Le Jardinier was quickly able to identify him. This is a Changing Pholiote. “It is edible, but be careful: it can be confused with the Margined Galleywhich is a deadly fungus. » It is therefore imperative to consult a pharmacist who can assure you that it is the right mushroom.

The Changing Pholiote has a pleasantly fragrant taste. But if it is picked too late, the mushroom will become fibrous and tasteless. ” Normally, its natural habitat is old stumpsbut perhaps you have spread compost on your lawn, a compost made with leaves? », asks Bertrand Le Jardinier.

It changes color

Like many mushrooms, it likes moist and slightly acidic soil. “We see them frequently. It changes color with the weather: at the moment it is reddish-brown but, in dry weather, it takes on a honey color. »
