The Jura poet, writer and autonomist Alexandre Voisard died in the night from Monday to Tuesday at the age of 94, his family said on Tuesday. Author of the poem “Ode to the country that does not want to die”, he contributed to the cultural awakening of the canton.
The death announced by the Quotidien Jura was confirmed by the family of Alexandre Voisard. A long-time resident of France, the Ajoulot writer was hospitalized in Porrentruy (JU). According to his wish, he will be buried in Fontenais, where he lived for a long time, where he is from and an honorary citizen, his family specifies in a forwarded email.

In addition to his literary and artistic activities, Alexandre Voisard was an important figure in the Jura Question.
Member of the Jura Separatist Movement, then of the Jura Rally, from 1947, the author of the popular poem “Ode to the country that does not want to die” became the first delegate for cultural affairs of the canton in 1979. He was also a socialist deputy in Parliament Jura from 1979 to 1983.
