In direct coordination with the municipalities affected by the floods of October 17, the Metropolis of Lyon mobilized its services to carry out multiple emergency interventions. In a press release published Friday October 18, the community listed the many places where it intervened.
At the level of the roads and bridges : its teams remain mobilized on the D386, south of Lyon, impacted by the collapse of a low wall. On the cleaning side, the human and material resources deployed are significant.
“Around twenty agents are on the ground to take charge of managing damage linked to the flood in the municipalities of Givors and Grigny. Additional mechanized resources (large sweepers, washers, flatbed truck) were deployed all afternoon this Friday, October 18, and interventions will continue Saturday and Sunday if necessary“, specifies the Métropole de Lyon.

Its services are also involved in actions of cleaning and curettage mechanized manholes. Pumping continues in Givors at several key points, in order to allow access to housing. No water cuts have been reported elsewhere.
The areas of traveling people in Givors and Grigny were temporarily moved to other sites nearby and protected from the risk of flooding.
Moreover, 12 colleges of the territory were victims of damage. The Metropolis indicates that the first repair work will take place during the All Saints’ Day holidays.
