Return to the championship for the AFL, Saturday October 19, at 6 p.m. for the seniors of Regional 1 and at 3 p.m. for the women of D1, at the Jean-Jacques-Delmas stadium in Mende.
Being eliminated from the Coupe de France, this emotional competition, is always damaging. But getting knocked out early is even harder, because the schedule no longer has you playing every other week. And when there is no longer a Coupe de France, at the start of the season, the calendar empties quickly and the rhythm can be lacking.
The AFL certainly learned this the hard way, two weeks ago during the defeat conceded to Narbonne (2-0). So, to keep the pace and prepare well for today’s match, the Zanina players went to play a friendly match at Onet-le-Château, National 3 team, last week.
Forget the setback
This Saturday, it will be a question of moving forward and forgetting the setback in Narbonne, where a few players were missing from the group. For the reception of Montpellier Atlas Paillade, the group should be complete. After three days, the results of the Mendois are positive since with two victories and one defeat, they are in fourth place in the ranking, tied on points with their opponents of the day.
The difference is that the Montpellier residents have only played two matches and are therefore having an ideal start to the championship. Two successes acquired largely against Canet-en-Roussillon (4-1) and Vauvert (5-0), but each time at home. It’s up to the AFL players, therefore, to hand their visitors their first defeat.
A fifth victory for the girls?
On this Pink October weekend, it will not only be the men’s flag team that will play on the Jean-Jacques-Delmas field. The women will in fact have the privilege of receiving the Rieupeyroux-Naucelle agreement, at 3 p.m.
The AFL players have had a very good start to the season in their D1 championship with four victories in as many matches, and will certainly be keen to continue their good series.
A busy weekend
Another match that will be worth the detour, but you will have to make a choice, the Gambardella Cup. The AFL U18s receive Saint-Clément Montferrier, for the 4the round of the French Youth Cup, at 3 p.m., at the Causse d’Auge.
Finally, the senior reserve team travels on Saturday, to Comtal, in R3, and team 3 receives Luc-la Primaube, Saturday, at 7 p.m., at the Causse d’Auge. A busy weekend but one that calls for a lot of victories.
