The CROSS Gris-Nez was mobilized on 9 operations during the day, including the rescue of two boats of 62 and 10 people.

In the space of 24 hours, 128 people were rescued in the Channel on Saturday October 12. The Channel and North Sea maritime prefecture indicates in a press release that the Gris-Nez regional operational surveillance and rescue center (CROSS) was mobilized on 9 assistance and surveillance operations during the day.

62 people on a single boat

Among these interventions, the authorities rescued two boats of 62 and 10 people off the coast of . The latter were rescued by the ship Minck and the launch SNS077 of the SNSM of Boulogne-sur-Mer.

Some of the occupants of a third boat were recovered by the hydrographic building (BH) Laplace.

In total, over the day, 6 boats took part in these operations on Saturday. In the Channel in recent weeks, many tragedies have unfolded. On the night of Friday October 4 to Saturday October 5, four migrants, including a two-year-old child, died in two crossing attempts.
