All day, this Saturday, October 12, the Air Force’s “Alpha Experience” took place in Montpellier. For the second edition of this show, an Alphajet from the Patrouille de France landed on the square in front of the town hall in the Port Marianne district, a stopover of a few days before leaving for .

The goal of the game: to attract the attention of young people and encourage them to get involved. In the hall, soldiers had also installed flight simulators.

“It’s incredible, we have all the feelings of flying a plane, of accelerating, of stopping!” comments a young girl who had just taken the handle.

Piloting, maintenance, aeronautics, rifle commandos, intelligence… in this show, the Air Force extolled the merits of 50 different professions.

Target audience: young people between 16 and 30 years old from third to bac+5, like Nicolas. “I came to find out what we could do in the field of aeronautics. It seemed interesting to me to come here, given that I live in Montpellier,” explains this first year science student.

“There are more and more women who come to see us and who are interested in all professions, even those more categorized as masculine, like commandos or pilots,” underlines this soldier responsible for communication and recruitment.

In addition to the technology-focused stands, a job dating area was set up to allow military personnel to share their experience with visitors.

Today, we have young people who need to find meaning in what they are going to do. Working as a soldier in the Air Force means protecting the nation, serving the population, and these are things that speak to young people.” says General Frédérick Devanlay, in charge of recruitment (DRHAAE).

Nearly 4,000 positions are to be filled within the Air Force, jobs available throughout France.
