From May 22 to 26, the third edition of the Morocco Equestrian Rally (MRE) 2024 will take place, in the Ifrane National Park, in the Meknes-Tafilalet region, where around fifty international riders will compete. Organized by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Horses (SOREC), in partnership with the National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF), this event aims to promote sustainable development and ecotourism in Morocco. It also contributes to the “Green Generation 2020-2030” strategy to strengthen the agricultural and forestry sectors.

The rally will start on May 22 with a briefing for all participants, where the rules, route and safety instructions will be explained. From May 23 to 25, riders will ride a different section of the route, totaling 110 kilometers through the Ifrane National Park.

The events assess teams’ focus, consistency and endurance on various terrains, with early morning starts and scheduled lunch breaks. These breaks allow teams to check the health of their horses.

Indeed, measures are put in place to guarantee the well-being of the horses, with the presence of specialist veterinarians throughout the event. Efforts are also being made to minimize environmental impact, with the use of biodegradable materials and awareness campaigns on ecotourism practices.

In addition to the equestrian competition, additional activities are offered for those accompanying you, such as guided walks and tourist tours of the Middle Atlas. Finally, the event is committed to supporting local communities by collaborating with artisans and small businesses in the region.
