The B4 range of LG TVs is the good economical choice for those who dreamed of Oled without wanting to spend a fortune thanks to a few compromises. However, the television has a lot to offer: excellent image quality, 100 Hz natively, the best supported video standards, and compatible game modes thanks to the HDMI 2.1 ports. And even if price drops are rare on Oled televisions, this is not the case for this 65-inch LG B4 model which benefits from a little over 600 euros of immediate discount.

A series that moves upmarket on certain points

The B4 series represents the entry level at LG, with models on which we can expect some compromises. This year, the South Korean firm has made notable technical improvements which make this television much more interesting. Finished at 60 Hz, the panel is capable of going up to 120 Hz, and thus meets the current needs of consumers, in particular gamers.

This reference does not disappoint on this point by integrating 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, which allow 4K@120 frames per second for next-gen consoles. The ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode, which considerably reduces latency by automatically switching to a mode intended for this purpose) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate, which combats screen tearing) will also be there, without forgetting the compatibility with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync. A good playmate therefore.

A less bright Oled panel, but just as beautiful

Obviously, the concessions lie elsewhere: the B4 series continues to use a less bright Oled panel than its more expensive C4 series counterparts, which switched to an Oled Evo panel. It’s difficult to hold it against it, when it benefits from the advantages of Oled, namely deep blacks, impressive contrast and bright colors. There is also a host of compatibility with the HDR Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG standards. It also features a new Alpha8 AI 4K processor which offers Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro technology for optimizing HDR content. On the audio side, it benefits from 9.1.2 channel sound compatible with Dolby Atmos.

Let’s finish on the interface where we find webOS 24 in control. This television benefits from the new features of the webOS Re:New program, which promises updates to the latest version of webOS for an extended period: here, up to four interface update versions will be offered for 5 years. The Chromecast function appears, practical for sending content wirelessly from an Android mobile device. SVoD platforms are there, as is the presence of Alexa and Google Assistant.
