A speed dating between nannies and parents was organized on Saturday October 12 in Rochefort-du-Gard (Gard). The event aimed to bring childminders and parents together before potentially working together.
In Rochefort-du-Gard, the “Les cigales” space hosted, on Saturday October 12 between 9:00 a.m. and noon, a somewhat special speed dating event. In fact, thirteen childminders were waiting around a table to meet parents or future parents who are looking for nannies, reports France Blue. This event was organized by the early childhood relay of SIDSCAVAR, the intercommunal union for social development of the cantons of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon and Roquemaure.
A beneficial meeting for parents and childminders
“I want it to remain something friendly, a first exchange with parents”explained the union official. “It’s a first meeting, to see if there is an affinity with certain childminders. For the parent, it allows them to explain their need for care, and for the childminders to talk about their way of working”she added.
“We ask for slightly atypical hours, on Wednesdays and during school holidays”explained a young couple. Thanks to this speed dating, childminders can choose which child they will work with based on their availability and that of the parents. “I can’t have babies because I’m going to have one in November, and two babies professionally is complicated. Ideally eighteen months, two years, that would be perfect”detailed a nanny who is convinced by this innovative system.
