around 2 p.m. this Wednesday, a man on a scooter hit a municipal police officer at Place des Cinq-Fontaines in Échirolles. The square is located near the Le Carrare building, recently evacuated and known for harboring significant drug trafficking.

According to the police, the 50-year-old municipal police officer lost consciousness at the time of the facts. He was then transported to the mutual clinic. His life is not in danger but he suffers from knee pain and head trauma. The perpetrator fled.

The mayor of Échirolles reacts

In a press release, the mayor of Échirolles, Amandine Demore writes: “My thoughts go first and foremost to the injured municipal police officer […] to whom I bring, as well as his loved ones, the support of the entire Échirolle community. Following the securing and evacuation of Carrare on Friday September 27, incessant pressure is exerted against drug trafficking in the town center of Échirolles with pedestrian patrols by the municipal police and actions daily fight against trafficking with the national police. Faced with this heinous act, our determination to maintain public safety remains completely intact.”
