Onet-le-Château. At the media library, a nice meeting with the “book artist” Philippe UG

Philippe UG is his real name, but “ it’s not written like that, there, it means “graphic unity”, the one that I try to respect in all my works…”, laughs Philippe UG in the preamble. This internationally renowned artist and master of the pop-up is now essential in children’s literature, since the publication of his book “funny bird”, published in 2011. But not only that, because they are also and above all family works, where young and old alike immerse themselves with the same pleasure in its colorful and fascinating universe, when the paper comes to life, with this magical side which makes them true works of art, with each page that we open… creations combining technique and aesthetics of an artist who is also recognized as a paper engineer and screen printer!

At the media library, Philippe UG is exhibiting around thirty pop-ups, taken from his works, until October 12, in an explosion of colors and volumes, which you absolutely must discover. With boundless energy, he also runs workshops in which he enjoys sharing his passion for books and paper, but also his rigor and generosity, so that drawing, cutting and assembly give birth, with this same communicative happiness, to works in chiseled paper in vibrant colors, of which budding artists are very proud…
