“Koh-Lanta, it’s harder in real life than on TV”: Fabrice, the Ardèche candidate looks back on his elimination

Fabrice was unlucky. This Tuesday, October 8, the Ardèche candidate from the game show “Koh-Lanta”, on TF1, was eliminated. During the traditional council at nightfall, the adventurers’ vote gave him a tie with another candidate. A draw therefore takes place. Fabrice draws the black ballsynonymous with the end of the adventure. “The sentence is irrevocable”announces host Denis Brognard.

But a few months after the filming, the owner of an equestrian center in Alba-la-Romaine took a step back and keep good memories of his participation in the game. “I was not designated as undeserving or unpleasant. It was not a sanction vote but a strategic vote”recalls Fabrice. The seven votes against him all come from his former opponents, the “Reds” team.

“Koh-Lanta changed me”

“When I see the black ball in my hand, I am immediately very nostalgic for what I am leaving behind”remembers the Ardéchois who also says he is “went out with my head held high”. Participating in Koh-Lanta was his dream. Fabrice applied 23 timesevery year since he was 17. Today’s 40-year-old man doesn’t want to have regrets: “If I had imagined my adventure, I could have imagined it like that. I am leaving in a clean, honest, honest way. That looks like me”.

Fabrice assures that the experience brought him a lot and made him grow. “We all have a list of things to do in our lives. For me, Koh-Lanta changed me, it allowed me to take a step back, to realize that we have to enjoy the people we love as long as they are there“, confides the adventurer who held until the eighth episode of the seasonat the time of the reunification of the two teams. This corresponds to 21 days spent on the island.

Fatigue, hunger and loneliness

“It’s much harder than on TV, we don’t realize when we have the fridge and our loved ones in the next room”emphasizes Fabrice. Since his participation in the game, the Ardéchois says he has been bombarded with questions for know if everything you see is true. “Of course it’s true. When you look, you say to yourself that they are whining all the time but it’s really very hard”, he insists.

Fabrice describes the fact of falling asleep on an empty stomach for several days in a row : “we wake up even less fit than the day before“. He was marked by having to ration very small meals, with what the adventurers found on the island. But what was hardest was the solitude, being far from his loved ones : “Everything there disappears overnight”he summarizes.

But Fabrice doesn’t say no to trying a new Koh-Lanta adventure, he would really like to take revenge. And perhaps this time reach the legendary test that makes all candidates dream: the pole test.
