Wildlife police officers shot a wolf in Val-de-Travers (NE) on October 5 at around 8:30 p.m., reports the Neuchâtel Chancellery. An authorization for the shooting had been issued for this individual, she specifies.

The predator would be the one behind two attacks that occurred the previous week in two neighboring pastures. A heifer notably lost its life. This is also where the canine was shot. The remains of the wolf are now at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Bern for expertise.

The two attacks last week caused a lot of excitement in the region. Former UDC national councilor Yvan Perrin made a post on Facebook with a photo of an eviscerated animal captioned as follows: “La Côte-aux-Fées, this weekend. A big thank you to the sores at Pronatura!”

The State of Neuchâtel invites you to be vigilant. If you have any questions, breeders can contact the Neuchâtel Chamber of Agriculture and Viticulture, which will be able to advise them on the measures to take.
