Accusations which left the French in astonishment. For several months, many people have broken their silence regarding the alleged actions of Abbé Pierre who is accused of rape and sexual assault. But now the priest’s nephew has agreed to confide on this terrible subject for our colleagues from France Bleu.
He then specifies that he was aware that his uncle did not respect his vow of chastity but that he would never have thought of sexual assault. “In the family, we all knew that our uncle’s sexuality was problematic,”
indicates the son of Abbé Pierre’s little sister. “My mother Anne-Marie, his sister, she had a lot of arguments with him on the subject. She knew very well that celibacyfor him, it was something unbearable”he continues.
Abbé Pierre’s family breaks the silence
But the abbot’s nephew would never have imagined so much drama behind his uncle: “On the other hand, the sexual assaults as they were described, no, we did not know about them”he assures, affirming that the situation is very violent.
He denounces facts “unacceptable”. Evoking a
“disappointment in relation to man”, however he does not want it “deny”. “He remains my uncle“,
he said. Faced with so many accusations, Guy Tuscher wishes to provide his support: “I support these women who have told what they suffered. They must speak so that a healing process can take place and to put what they experienced with him far away from them.”

But he does not want us to brush aside what Abbé Pierre did in particular for the Emmaüs foundation.
: “We cannot say that everything he has done is to be thrown away. That is not possible”he indicates. “Everyone was captivated by the myth of Abbé Pierre. And who was the man behind it? Well, the man, we now discover.”
