the Guardia Civil announces the closure of the investigation, “Laura deserves a dignified farewell”

This is a new step forward in the case of the disappearance of Laura and Marc Trappeniers in Tenerife. The Belgian couple disappeared on April 22 after taking a yoga class.

A few days later, Laura’s lifeless body was found in the sea. Marc, for his part, has not been found for more than 5 months. This Monday, the Guardia Civil, in charge of the case, announced that the investigation into this case had been closed.

Three suspects

As we revealed to you, three suspects, of Belgian nationality, were suspected of being behind this crime. Among them, Michael A (44 years old), his son Lucas A (23 years old), who had rented accommodation to the couple for some time. Their motive could be financial. Investigators were able to determine that the two suspects had left Tenerife just after the couple’s disappearance. Arrested in Belgium at the request of Spanish justice, the two suspects were transferred to Spain on July 16.

The third suspect was Massimo M., their handyman, who was caught on camera leaving the couple’s house.

After viewing thousands of hours of images and interviewing numerous witnesses, the investigation is now closed, the Guardia Civil confirms to Nieuwsblad.

Funeral this Monday

“We handed the file over to an investigating court,” she explains. The court will have to carefully study the police investigation and question numerous witnesses. “It is only at the end of this procedure that a magistrate will decide whether the suspects must appear before a Spanish popular jury,” explains a court spokesperson to the Flemish newspaper. According to the court, this step could take months.

A new step has therefore been reached for those close to the couple, who were recently able to recover Laura’s body. His funeral is also being organized this Monday in Tenerife

“We will have a short ceremony and some of us will speak,” concludes Jeanine, a friend of Laura. “She deserves a dignified farewell. Laura Trappeniers will be cremated. His final resting place will be in Tenerife. »
