In Senegal, President Faye confronted with land issues and the legality of rights

The application of property rights as well as the legality of acquired rights are of great concern to the Senegalese administration. As the preservation of collective spaces becomes a priority, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye finds himself faced with the challenge of reassessing legally allocated land titles, raising questions of legal security and human rights. “This is a hoarding and fraudulent use which constitutes a serious threat to the environment and public health”declares Alioune Tine.

Since coming to power in 2012, Macky Sall has initiated controversial reforms, notably with the Court for the Repression of Illicit Enrichment, sparking accusations of unfair procedures against political opponents. Today, his successor, President Faye, is employing a similar strategy, aiming to dismantle illegal appropriations to rally public opinion. “We will destroy all illegal constructions”affirmed Colonel Papa Saboury Ndiaye, thus reinforcing the desire for transparency.
