The Bel-Air district police station referred the case yesterday, Monday May 6, 2024, to the public prosecutor, A. Gueye. He was arrested last Friday for theft of straps and tires at the autonomous port of Dakar.

Aged 27, A. Gueye, electrician, residing in Keur Massar, was imprisoned yesterday, Monday May 6, 2024, for a theft incident. Along with other young people – on the run – he had stolen truck tires and container straps to the detriment of the Senegalese Transport Company. The events took place on the night of Friday May 3 to Saturday May 4. During this evening, around 3 a.m., 3 young people were caught removing a truck tire parked on the road. Their suspicious behavior prompted a security guard to alert members of the Bel-Air police station, who were on security patrol in the surrounding area.

The police quickly arrived on the scene. They caught the trio in flagrante delicacy. The two managed to escape. A. Gueye was arrested. Bloodhounds found straps that he admits he took from trucks. When questioned, he swears that this is the first time he has participated in a theft. According to him, his comrades led him into this stupidity. He threw out the names of his acolytes while confiding that they had decided to sell the tires at a low price.

Following his confession, A. Gueye was placed in police custody for criminal conspiracy and theft committed at night. He was taken yesterday to the Dakar public prosecutor’s office. He is placed under arrest warrant.
