Some 150 travel advisors gathered yesterday (October 2) in Quebec City to express their appreciation of theAir Canada and of Air Canada Vacations regarding flights to the South and Florida, departing from Quebec airport (YQB) this winter. The event, a major recognition evening held at the Manorattracted a record crowd.

“This is unheard of,” exclaimed Karen Acsfrom Air Canada. The senior regional sales department manager believes that the strong participation in this evening demonstrated the attachment of local professionals to the carrier and the tour operator.

This attachment is also reciprocal. “It is very important for us to show our presence and our commitment in the National Capital Region,” she added. “We found a way to re-enter the Quebec market with direct flights. »

Pros from several regions

In addition to advisors from the Quebec region and Beauce, the event, to which the Quebec airport contributed, also attracted representatives of agencies from Mauricie, Montérégie, Bas-du- River, Outaouais, Abitibi and Saguenay.

Joanie Desbiens-Boivin et Geneviève Dominguetwo advisors from Voyages CAA in Chicoutimi, made the journey crossing the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve to attend this presentation and networking evening.

“We came to stay up to date on suppliers and news, meet colleagues from other CAA agencies, and network. These evenings are always enriching, and it was worth the trip,” they explained.

A long-awaited return!

Last winter, Air Canada and Air Canada Vacations temporarily withdrew from YQB due to organizational constraints, news that disappointed both travel advisors and their customers. This withdrawal of the major players led to a reduction in supply, less competition, and an increase in prices… In short, everyone hoped for a return of the red maple leaf brand for the next season!

Cancún, Punta Cana, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando… and Tulum!

Last summer, the resumption of Air Canada and Air Canada Vacations activities at YQB for the winter of 2024-2025 was announced, but some remained skeptical, notes Jean-Luc Tremblaysales sector manager for Eastern Quebec at Air Canada Vacations.

“Even if I assured the agents that our absence was temporary, we had to regain their trust,” he explained to PAX. Tonight, we want to tell them: “It’s confirmed, we’re back, and we’re going to give it our all. The people of Quebec want direct flights from YQB, and that’s what we’re offering them.” »

The tour operator and carrier return with an offer similar to that before their one-year eclipse, while adding a new destination: Tulumin Mexico, where a new airport, less congested than that of Cancún, is now available. Flights to Tulum will begin on December 13, with one flight per week until April 25.

Other destinations offered from Quebec include Cancun (Thursdays starting October 31), Punta Cana (Wednesday and Saturday from October 30), Fort Lauderdale (Thursday and Friday from October 31 to April 25) and Orlando (Wednesday and Saturday from October 30 to April 30).
