For many years, the Michelin Guide rewards them restaurants by awarding stars to their establishments. In 2024, the worldwide guide unveiled a brand new distinction, namely the Michelin keyto reward the hotels the most exceptional. Several establishments located in Brittany appear in the list unveiled at the beginning of the monthApril 2024.
Thousands of hotels scrutinized
As early as the 1920s, the Michelin Guide recommended its first hotels. It is therefore quite logical that it was decided to create the Michelin Key to reward establishments which offer the most remarkable hotel experiences. “Any hotel in the Michelin Guide is potentially eligible. Over the past four years, our selection team has screened thousands of hotels,” it says.
Which four Breton hotels received awards?
The names of the first French establishments awarded a Michelin Key were announced on Monday April 8, 2024. Four hotels located in Brittany appear on the list. Discover the establishments concerned:
- Castelbrac to Dinard (Ille-et-Vilaine) : Two Michelin Keys
- La Grée des Landes in La Gacilly (Morbihan) : A Michelin Key
- The Brittany & Spa in Roscoff (Finistère) : A Michelin Key
- Lan-Kerellec Manor in Trébeurden (Côtes-d’Armor) : A Michelin Key
To award the Michelin Keys, Michelin Guide inspectors take into account five criteria: the degree of excellence in architecture and interior design, the quality and regularity of the service, the personality of the establishment, the quality ratio /price, and the capacity of the accommodation to be an open door to the destination in which it is located.
“Hotels that are awarded a Michelin Key do not only meet one, but all of these criteria. They are the best of the best in all categories,” it is stated.
