Dismissal of Emmanuel Macron: the law committee massively rejects the LFI proposal

The idea, launched by the Rebels, had little chance of succeeding. Unsurprisingly, the proposed resolution aimed at dismissing the head of state was overwhelmingly rejected this Wednesday by the 73 deputies of the Law Commission of the National Assembly. For its promoters, from the Insoumis ranks, this text aimed to denounce the “theft” of the election results and the “democratic coup” of Emmanuel Macron.

On paper, it is now up to the conference of political group presidents to decide within 13 days whether the text should proceed to the next stage, that is to say an examination in the hemicycle. The proposed resolution was tabled on September 4, the day of the appointment of Michel Barnier (Les Républicains) as Prime Minister. The text received a first green light on September 17 from the Office of the National Assembly.

A proposal that has “no meaning and no future”

If the Socialists had agreed to transmit the text to the Law Commission, they had also warned that they would vote “unanimously” against this procedure which, according to them, risks “giving new legitimacy” to the head of state because it is ” doomed to failure.”

This Wednesday again, François Hollande judged that this proposal had “no meaning and no future”. And to defend: “I am not for the knockout, I am for the country to move forward”.

The National Rally had also ruled out voting for this text, with Marine Le Pen denigrating a “smoke-mongering maneuver” by the “extreme left”. As did the small centrist Liot group: “This procedure will not succeed”, and therefore “interests us very little”, MP Olivier Serva evacuated on Tuesday.
