The Dauphinoise Public Law Association will organize a conferenceWednesday May 15, at 5 p.m., at the Lawyer’s House has Grenoble. This will be hosted by Gilles Hermitte8e president of the administrative court of appeal of Lyon.

Conference by Gilles Hermitte on the role of the appeal judge in administrative law in Grenoble

This event, upon registration, is primarily aimed at students, academics and professionals. The theme will focus on role of the appeal judge in administrative law.

Gilles Hermitte will first present the organization and activity of the Lyon administrative court of appeal. Then, he will focus on the role of the appeal judge: what we can ask of him and what we cannot ask of him. It will also address the subject of examining the regularity of the first instance decision and re-examining the facts. He will emphasize the importance of seeking harmonization of case law.

Gilles Hermitte: from school administration attaché to president of the court of appeal

© DR – Gilles Hermitte will host the conference on the role of the appeal judge on May 15 in Grenoble.

Gilles Hermitte is a former school and university administration officer. He joined the body of administrative judges in 1988. He worked at the administrative court of Marseille for ten years, then, for six years, at the administrative court of appeal. Promoted to the rank of president in 2004, he served as vice-president of the Marseille administrative court before becoming head of court.

He was president of the administrative courts of Clermont-Ferrand, Orléans and Cergy-Pontoise before being appointed 8e president of the administrative court of appeal of Lyon on 1er September 2020.
