A shock and that’s it. The draw for the 5th round of the Coupe de France took place this Tuesday for the Mediterranean League clubs. A 5th round which sees, like every year, the entry into the running of National clubs.
The only club in the region playing at this level, Aubagne (N) was rather spared by fate and will travel to the amateurs of Saint-Didier Espérance Pernoise (R2). On the other hand, chance decided to oppose two National 2 clubs from this 5th round, with a clash between the Istres FC (N2) et Fréjus Saint-Raphaël (N2). For its part, theAS Cannes (N2) will welcome Villefranche Saint-Jean Beaulieu (N3) while Marignane-Gignac (N2) will travel to the pitch of SC Courthézon-Jonquières (R2).
Three N2 clubs are missing from this 5th round: Hyèresbeaten on penalties by Istres, the SC Touloneliminated to everyone’s surprise by US Carqueiranne-La Crau (R2), and the RC Pays de Grassetaken out on penalties by Six-Fours-le Brusc (R1).
