Dakar, September 30 (AAPS) – The SunuBRT company, responsible for operating the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), announced the opening of seven new stations of the said infrastructure, starting this Monday, to transport the greatest number of passengers.

This is the second phase of the BRT launch, according to a company statement.

The Bus Rapid Transit B1 route now includes 21 stations.

In addition to the 14 previous stations, the buses of the said line will now serve the stations of Golf Sud, Parcelles Assainies police, Scat Urbam, Liberté 5, Liberté 1, Dial-Diop and the great mosque of Dakar , according to the same source.

She also announces the launch of the B2 semi-express line, which will serve seven stations, from Allées Papa-Guèye-Fall to the prefecture of Guédiawaye via Place de la Nation, Grand-Dakar, Sacré-Cœur, Grand-Médine and Dalal Jam Hospital.

”This semi-express line will offer an alternative for an even faster journey,” adds the press release.

SunuBRT affirms that this new phase of the commissioning of the Bus Rapid Transit is ”a key stage in the improvement of urban transport in Dakar”.

The BRT has been providing daily transport for thousands of people between the cities of Dakar, Guédiawaye and Parcelles Assainies since May 15. It is the result of a partnership which links the State of Senegal to several investors, including the European Investment Bank.
