Union Neuchâtel is back in business. The La Riveraine basketball players face Monthey-Chablais tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in Valais for the resumption of the Swiss Basketball League championship. Union which has had some difficulty in closing its budget and which announced, already this spring, that it would have to scale back for the 24/25 financial year. So all the foreign players left this summer, and only two new ones were hired. The opportunity to give more responsibilities to Swiss players, like Thomas Salmann, Joanis Maquiesse or Dylan Schommer. The latter will even be the captain this season, explains Jean-Luc Bernasconi, member of the Union committee in “La Matinale”. The team will have an average age of just 23 years old. “There will be a role for Mitar Trivunovic to be even more on the pitch to guide this team,” notes Jean-Luc Bernasconi.

Union Neuchâtel which still does not have a president. “I won’t hide the fact that it’s not ideal,” admits Jean-Luc Bernasconi. “But we preferred to continue working as a college committee to wait for the right person,” he explains. /lgn
