Clearly, the Palace team got the green light to stretch their schedule until mid-January. Mayor Julie Bourdon, however, assures that the City of Granby, owner of the room, has not yet decided anything regarding the start of the construction site.

“Earlier this week, we passed the loan regulations provided for in this year’s budget, and there we are waiting for subsidies to see when we will do the work. […] With the current horizon, we are not ready to announce work in the fall, that’s certain,” said Ms. Bourdon in an interview with The Voice of the East Friday morning.

“It’s a file that has changed a lot, and we are adjusting to all that.”

A public information session is planned by the City, at a time that is deemed appropriate.

Remember that another corrected version of this project, which was initially supposed to materialize in 2021, was developed at the beginning of 2023. We were then talking about an invoice of around 12 million and work including in particular the replacement of seats and the addition of a curtain which will modulate the space.

According to the echoes obtained by The Voice of the East, the people at the Palace still expect to eventually have to relocate their activities for a period of 18 months. The first piece of a potential traveling program has already been revealed since veteran comedian Daniel Lemire will perform in the auditorium of the J.-H.-Leclerc school on March 8. The room of the School of the Divine Word will also be used.
