The Friborg Hospital (HFR) suffered a loss of 36.4 million francs last year, instead of the 27.9 million francs budgeted. The amount is higher, despite anticipation of the effects of inflation, wage indexation and the status quo of prices.

Without exogenous effects, the deficit would have stood at 13.1 million francs, the institution said on Friday. Added to these external factors was a strong seasonal variation in stationary activity, with an ‘unusual’ low from May to August and a higher number of waiting days compared to the previous year.

Ambulatory activity excluding Covid-19 continued to grow, while the rate of staff fluctuation decreased. As a reminder, the HFR suffered a loss of 4.2 million francs in 2022, for an expected sum of -15.7 million. This year, it plans to record a disbursement of 29.8 million.
