The one who has been in closed therapy since January 2024 received a suspended prison sentence with the condition, among other things, of remaining at Domaine Orford. However, the ex-spouse of sexual predator Frédérick Brousseau allegedly kissed another resident, received and kept a love letter from him, sold a sex toy and borrowed money, all actions prohibited by the House.

The conditions attached to this sentence imposed on April 22 by Judge Claire Desgens would therefore have been broken, estimated the Crown and the prosecutor Me Stéphanie Landry. The latter asked that Cournoyer continue his sentence in prison.

Cournoyer’s lawyer, Me Guy Plourde, believed that his client should have another chance. According to him, no evidence shows that the accused’s failings were committed after April 22. Moreover, Cournoyer had received a warning from the therapy center even before his sentence was imposed.

Judge Jean-Guillaume Blanchette leaned in favor of the defense. The woman therefore did not break the judge’s order and will enter another therapy in the Gatineau sector.

A victim of Véronik Cournoyer and Frédérick Brousseau was present in court on Monday. The latter would have liked the accused to take the path of detention. “We knew she was going to end up getting expelled,” she describes. This morning, I didn’t want to listen to it. I have no words. But to see her chained [dans le box des accusés]it was a pleasure.”
