The petition was launched by young Jade, following the disqualification of her club, Capbreton Hossegor Rugby (CHR), on Sunday April 21. Supporter and sister of one of the CHR players, she had traveled for this accession match to the Federal 3 and she used the Mesopinions.com platform with this title: “Let’s change the destiny of the CHR by giving them back victory that was stolen from them.”
This match was high stakes and of capital importance for the club as she confirms: “The club had been waiting for this for almost twenty years. So out of anger and in an innocent way, I decided to launch this petition. I didn’t expect such momentum and support! »
In fact, the match was tense, she remembers. The CHR scores a last minute try which allows it to win 31 to 27 against Mimizan. “The players didn’t give up and this try rewarded them, they deserved this victory! »
However, in the evening, the opposing club filed an appeal for annulment, citing an error on the match sheet. UA Mimizan was therefore immediately declared the winner and CHR disqualified. A fact that the CHR contests today, which published a press release to this effect with the match sheet and the photo of the player in question.
Golfers, surfers, anonymous…
The petition, during this time, grew in size and reached 6,259 signatures this Thursday, April 25 at the beginning of the afternoon. An entire territory and the local sports world seems to be mobilizing: golfers, surfers, anonymous people, stars and of course rugby players have signed.
Alexandre Roumat, former player of the club and member of the XV of France, took up the CHR press release on his Instagram page. The national union of Proval rugby players also indicated that it would support the CHR.
The CHR did not want to comment beyond its already explicit press release. Jade, thanks to this petition and the relay of social networks, could well weigh like a sixteenth man on the outcome of this sporting dispute.
