Hilcona Gourmet SA: less gas for the factory in Orbe

Hilcona will recover lost heat

Published today at 2:23 p.m.

The Hilcona Gourmet SA food production plant in Orbe is currently undergoing work with the aim of reducing its gas requirements by two thirds. This energy is used to heat the water necessary for daily cleaning on the site which employs more than 300 people for the annual manufacture of 40 million sandwiches and 10 million pizzas.

For this, the refrigeration machine was overhauled and its electric motor changed. The heat emitted by the coolers will thus no longer be lost, contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions from the factory, whose roof benefited from the installation of photovoltaic panels on nearly 6,000 m² in 2022.
