It’s a dream come true. Léo Louapre and Marc Bruneau, from the club Vitré BMX (Ille-et-Vilaine), are finalizing the final details ofan adventure which will take them to Rock Hill, not far from Charlottein the USA.

Ambitious Vitreans

There they will represent France in a world championship which promises to be tough. “The competition will not be completely the same as the competitions in Europe. The Americans have more qualified people, because they are the ones who organize and then there are the pilots ofLatin America who do not necessarily travel to Europe but who give their all on the track when it is on their continent”, underline Léo Louapre and Marc Bruneauaware of the arduous task that will be faced.

Because if the two Vitreous pilots go to the United States, it is not only to tourism. Both men, in their respective categories, hope to repeat the exceptional performances established in Glasgow last summer.

There, Marc Bruneau finished 5th in the final and Léo Louapre brought two world titles to Vitré. So for them the objective is clear: to make the finals in their category. Which will automatically qualify them for next season’s world championships.

If this objective can fully satisfy Marc Bruneau at 45-49 year oldsLéo Louapre wants more:

Initially I aim for the final, but of course the main objective is to repeat the two titles from last year.

However, the vitreous colossus experienced a small hiccup a few weeks before the world meeting: “After a good start to the season where I got into shape, I fell and broke my collarbone a month ago, my first very big injury of my career”, sighs again the 24 year old young man.

“The mind is there”

A plate in the shoulder and a few screws later, Léo is reassured, he will be able to participate at the worlds. But in what form? It’s the unknown.

“My first laps since the injury will perhaps be in testing at Rock Hill, he smiled before continuing. But it also allowed me to cut. Perhaps I would have a little more freshness, because the competitions came one after another very quickly this season. The schedule has been condensed due to of the Olympics. The mentality is there and it will be a great challenge to take on to defend my titles. »

Marc Bruneau in shape and confident

For his part, Marc Bruneau, who is in his last season with 45-49 year oldsunfolded his plan as he had imagined it since the start of the season.

A 5th place in Zolder in Belgium and a 4th place in Sarriansin Vaucluse, during the first two European Cups, associated with a probable qualification for the European Championship in Verona, all the lights are green for the Vitrean:

There is a big level in the west in this category since we are racing with the world champion and the European champion. These are good benchmarks.

Marc Bruneau

References that you should have in mind before setting off on the Rock Hill track. And why not new titles for Vitreans?
