A police officer who opens fire against a vehicle on the Choisy-le-Roi bridge. The scene was experienced live this Sunday by many passers-by and residents in this busy neighborhood, located a stone’s throw from the RER station.

It was the end of a chase that had started a little earlier between the police and a car. The events began around 1:15 p.m. in Villejuif, where the driver of a Renault Clio refused to submit to police checks. The chase lasted several kilometers, crossing Villejuif and Alfortville. The fugitive was slowed down by traffic then punctured his two front tires thanks to the “stop stick” thrown by the police.

Arriving in Choisy, at the start of the bridge which spans the Seine towards Créteil, he found himself blocked by the police, who had arrived in large numbers. “He then rushed towards a police officer who had gotten out of her vehicle,” indicates the Créteil prosecutor’s office. One of his colleagues fired his service weapon once, without causing any injuries. » The bullet hit the right rear wing of the Renault Clio. Then the driver ran away, before being caught by officials. The passenger was also arrested. Both were taken into custody. The Val-de-Marne judicial police were seized of the investigation.

The day before, in Valenton, another police check ended in refusal to comply. The events began around 3 p.m. on rue Paul-Cézanne, a small street which runs along a popular district of the city center. The police want to check a Renault Clio but the driver flees. He ends up stopping his car in the neighboring avenue, rue du Colonel-Fabien, and escapes by running, then pedaling using a bicycle provided by a friend.

The police were able to arrest the friend, failing to catch up with the fugitive. Obviously, the intervention did not please the people of the neighborhood. About ten people began to be vehement and threatening towards the officials. The latter had to fire two de-encirclement grenades to leave the scene without incident, arresting one of the attackers in the process.

The Villeneuve-Saint-Georges police station is responsible for the investigation to try to find the driver of the car who fled. In the meantime, his vehicle was impounded.
