Maine-et-Loire. “Those who blush”: a series filmed in Anjou and broadcast from September 24 on arte.tv

Filmed entirely in Pays de la (16 days between July and August 2023), the series’ main setting is the gymnasium of the Lycée Bergson in . Already supported by the Region for his short film “L’Âge tendre” nominated for the 2022 Césars, director Julien Gaspar-Oliveri has signed a new project on the theme of adolescence, on the border between documentary and fiction: a class of high school students meets a substitute drama teacher whose methods will upset him. The writing of the series was nourished by the castings and the filming, since each student-actor plays his own role. The series also echoes the director’s own experience, also a drama teacher, since he plays the role of the teacher. A series halfway between documentary and fiction. Ceux qui rougissent received €60,000 in production support from the Region, in partnership with the CNC. It also received support from the Regional Filming Reception Office.

Synopsis

A dozen high school students in the drama option are greeted by a substitute teacher for a month. While they are reciting Shakespeare while keeping their distance, the teacher cuts the rehearsal short by refusing to do amateur work. At the heart of an age where we often move forward masked, with our gaze too high or our heads too low, the question of intimacy imposes itself on them.
