SENEGAL-MUSIC / Saint-Louis: the 14th edition of the “Métissons” festival scheduled for November 29 and 30 – Senegalese Press Agency

Saint-Louis, September 17 (APS) – The city of Saint-Louis (north) will host the fourteenth edition of the “Métissons” festival on November 29 and 30, a cultural event that aims to create a festive atmosphere in the main places of the old city.

“The 14th edition of the Métissons festival will take place in Saint-Louis on November 29 and 30, 2024. Métissons will also promote aperitif and after-party concerts in the city’s main venues in order to create a festive atmosphere during the 2 days,” reads a note sent to the APS.

This cultural event, which takes place over two days, aims to launch the tourist season, adds the same source.

According to the organizers, the stage of the French Institute of Saint-Louis will be the main venue of the festival with concerts on Friday and Saturday, in order to maintain the popular side of the festival and allow access to the greatest number of spectators.

The festival program includes, among other things, a carnival, with the participation of musical artists, but also a “Takassanu Ndar” (parade across the island, in the middle of the afternoon) in a horse-drawn carriage to show Saint-Louis culture.

Cultural promoter Ababacar Guèye is the promoter of the Métissons festival, which has been held annually in the historic city of Saint-Louis since its creation in 2010.

Since that year, the “Métissons” festival in Saint-Louis has been part of the cultural agenda of the capital of the north, of Senegal and of the world, he recalls.
