The attack on 3 hunters on the night of Saturday to Sunday by 60 migrants, armed with iron bars and machetes, continues to cause a stir. The Boulogne prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation. For his part, the prefect of Pas-de-Calais has contacted Willy Schraen, the head of the hunters “to assure the victims of the full support of the State”. Several measures have been announced.
Jacques Billant, the prefect of Pas-de-Calais, yesterday contacted Willy Shraen, the head of the hunters, to announce the establishment of a hunting referent for the police force by sector. He will be the privileged contact for hunters in the event of a problem with illegal immigrants. A map of the huts present on the coast will also be made available to the police and gendarmes.
Discussion times will also be organized in each coastal district
By the end of the week, the sub-prefect of Calais, Agathe Cury, will meet Roger Catez, the president of the association of maritime hunters of Calais. Other meetings will be organized in Boulogne and Montreuil. The subject will also be discussed at the next general assembly of hunters in Hesdin in the presence of the prefect of Pas-de-Calais, the commander of the departmental gendarmerie group and the interdepartmental director of the national police in Pas-de-Calais.
