According to the newspaper Corriere della Seraabout twenty local youths surrounded the young man and attacked him with sticks. This incident occurred near the police station of the commune, adding to the confusion of the situation.
After the attack, the injured tourist was rescued and taken to hospital. Local authorities are continuing their investigations to identify the attackers visible on video recordings of the scene.
