The highly anticipated opening of the Relais de la Fontaine in Châtelus-Malvaleix

Recreating a café-restaurant in the very centre of the town was one of the projects of the municipality of Châtelus-Malvaleix (Creuse). It is now a done deal: Le Relais de la opened its doors on 7 September.

On September 3, four days before the opening of the Relais de la Fontaine in Châtelus-Malvaleix (Creuse), a public meeting was organized by the municipality, Marion Chemineau representing the 1,000 cafés program and Fanny Schnellbach, the future manager.

All three presented this project, which includes a commercial premises with a beautiful terrace and two apartments on the first floor, one for the operator and the second for private rental.

The entire investment cost €676,000, subsidized at 80%. The remainder to be paid by the municipality will be offset by the collection of rents.
The role of 1,000 cafés is to potentially invest in equipment and to provide logistical assistance in managing the multi-service café.

An experienced manager

The manager, Fanny Schnellbach, spoke in a relaxed manner, pointing out more than 25 years of catering and 12 years of collective catering, detailing her pleasure in working with Norman cuisine (veal blanquette and shrimp dombré) and in being experienced in Savoyard and Italian cuisine.

She promised to learn fondu creusois and other regional dishes. She will take care of the business with her son Hugo, familiar with the function with his mother in .

Seven days a week

On the multi-service side, the press, tobacco, lottery and UPS are already provided. Others may be developed according to demand.

To this end, during the meeting, a survey was established with the audience composed of some 110 people delighted to communicate on the evenings of entertainment, although Fanny asked for a break from installation because the main thing is still to come. One fact is certain, Fanny has successfully passed her probationary period.

Opening hours are as follows: Tuesday to Saturday from 7am to 8pm, Sunday and Monday from 9am to 1pm. The daily menus will include starter, main course and dessert for €17 or main course and dessert for €15.
