Dates of the passage of the herd in the villages of Gers

It’s the great celebration of the peasant heritage of the South-West: the herd of Txoin Iriberri arrives in Labarthète tomorrow Wednesday September 18, 2024.

It will cross 8 villages in Gers, including Perchède, which will host it at the Pesqué pond on Saturday September 20.

Program in Perchède Friday September 20

  • 9 a.m.: hiking,

  • 11 a.m.: arrival of the herd which marks half a stage at Pesqué,

  • 11:45 a.m.: CD32 and the mayor of Perchède present the actions underway in the sensitive area of ​​the Pesqué pond,

  • 12:30 p.m.: lunch at Pesqué by registration, unfortunately it is too late to reserve at 06 71 25 20 36,

  • 1:30 p.m.: welcome to students from the agricultural high school: workshop 1 (the role of meadows in our wetlands) and workshop 2 (the water cycle and our rivers).

Note that sheep’s cheese will be sold by its producer on the Pesqué site.

Saturday September 21: crafts and transhumance

Arrival of the herd around 5 p.m.

From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: local producers’ market, as well as demonstrations and workshops from the following artisans:

  • basket maker (The basket maker’s osier bed – Timothy Cousin),

  • paper basket maker (Marie-Christine Ozenne,

  • lacemaker (Mireille Debennerot),

  • spinner (Annie Peltriaux),

  • hook (The ten golden fingers – Tania Mazale),

  • wool work (Mondery Farm),

  • Weaving demonstration by Hans Mai on the 17th century loom (association Tweaving and Pheritage),

  • association Old trades: grinder, broom maker, woodworker, knitters,

  • cooper (Adour Cooperage),

  • farrier (Guillaume Lemasson and his students from the Mirande high school),

  • old games (Bas-Armagnac Toy Library),

  • Gascon bowling (Foyer de Monguilhem),

  • introduction to traditional dances (Tojosa),

  • temporary exhibition of models of old agricultural machinery (Jean-Honoré Vercauteren,

  • workshop dealing with wild plants (Jean-Pierre Vignolles).

Dinner at the Toujouse function room: chicken pot meal prepared by the association Culture and heritage from Toujouse: (consommé, stuffed chicken in a pot and its vegetables, salad, cheese, croustade, ice cream, wine and coffee included for 22 euros (adults) and 13 euros (children). Sunday September 22: arrival of the herd, harvest, mud, honey etc.

All day, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.: discovery of the rural heritage of our ancestors.

All afternoon: continuous cob workshop and, in addition, we will be able to:

  • At 2 p.m.: watch the grape harvest and press the grapes and taste the fresh grape juice,

  • At 3:30 p.m.: attend the honey harvest from the Museum’s apiary.
