The Pygmalion Kiosk will perform in Domme, Friday January 10 at 8:30 p.m., in the Salle de la Rode. Organized by the cultural association in Pays Domme Déclic, in partnership with the Domme Culture Office, this event offers a program of classical works carefully selected around the transverse flute.

Created in 2006 by conductor Raphaël Pichon, Pygmalion is an ensemble that brings together choir and musicians playing period instruments. The entire Kiosk offers chamber music concerts and workshops open to all, in order to share their passion for classical music and introduce a rich and varied repertoire.

Chamber music

The concert, entitled “The Magic Flute”, will be performed by Georgia Browne (on flute) and the Manyways ensemble, composed of Charles-Étienne Marchand (on violin), Diane Chmela (on viola) and Emily Robinson (on cello). The program includes arias by Mozart, Rossini and Gluck, with transcriptions adapted to chamber music. These arrangements were common at a time when operatic works were made accessible to the greatest number of people in this way.

Among the pieces played, we will find in particular arias from “The Magic Flute”, such as “Der Vogelfänger” or “Ach ich fühl’s”, as well as extracts from “The Barber of Seville” or “Orpheus and Eurydice”. The flute, particularly popular in the 18th centurye century, occupies a central place.

Before the concert, a discovery (or rediscovery) workshop on classical music will be offered to residents of the nursing home and to students of the Domme school. Please note that access to the room located in the heart of the bastide will be via the Delbos gate, the gate being temporarily closed.

Price: 15 euros, free for under 18s. Reservations on 06 70 49 70 44 or 05 53 29 01 91.
