(Agence Ecofin) – About a month before the launch scheduled for Wednesday February 22, 2025, the 29e edition of FESPACO continues to unveil its program. A few days ago on social networks, the organization of the event suggested that virtual reality would be on the program.
In Burkina Faso, the team responsible for organizing FESPACO 2025 could add virtual reality to its program. Social media accounts for the event recently shared a poster showing a woman wearing a VR headset, which reads “FESPACO VR.”
The organizers have not yet given any details on the place that virtual reality would have in this 29e edition of the Ouagadougou Pan-African Cinema and Television Festival. In recent years, this technology has nevertheless taken a more important place in cinema, in particular thanks to its ability to make films more immersive, giving the viewer the impression of experiencing the action up close.
VR can be used at many other levels in cinema, including pre-production by allowing scenes to be previewed before filming them. It could simply be the subject of a debate or actually be used to broadcast certain works at FESPACO, at which it would not be the first time that the technology would be present in any case.
