After a moving adaptation of three collections by Xavier Durringer in “Chronicles of a meeting” with Emilie Perrin, last season, Bruno Abadie returns to the Théâtre de la Violette with “As soon as it’s beautiful, it gnaws”. Only one on stage, this time, inspired by “Museum high, museum low” by Jean-Michel Ribes.

Successful meeting at the Violette theater in Toulouse
“Ribes’ texts are among the first that I chose to use as material for working with amateur adults,” explains Bruno Abadie. “These are therefore texts that have been with me for a very long time. A first project was born in 2019 with “Louise, Monique, Bob and the others”, adaptation of “Théâtre without animals”, a play for four characters. A second is being created today around the text “Mammoths”, extract from “Musée haute, musée bas”. The desire to bring this museum keeper to life and to go even further, to talk about his family life, his past or his his life, brought me to create a new puzzle from other texts by the author from other works”.
Live music and video
The text is accompanied by music composed, performed and recorded by Antoine Dermaut. Various paintings of mammoths make up the scenography, created by Marc Etiève, artistic director of Plasticiens Volants and by Martin Labbé-Cirla, young graffiti artist from Toulouse. The lighting design was carried out by Antoine Dufour. A video was specially designed for the show by Clément Combes and it evolves live throughout the performance.
This one-hour long version was created for the theater while a shorter 35-minute version was designed to be performed in museums and exhibition halls.
