Emotional speeches, French cinema rewarded… The 82nd Golden Globes ceremony took place in Beverly Hills, California (United States) on the night of Sunday January 5 to Monday January 6. Two months before the Oscars, the event, which rewards the best in cinema and television, saluted French know-how, with four statuettes awarded to Emilia Perez by Jacques Audiard and one to The Substance of Coralie Fargeat. 1 The revenge of Demi Moore, long considered a “popcorn actress”
Demi Moore won the award for best actress in a comedy on Sunday for her performance in the French film The Substanceof Coralie Fargeat. “I have been doing this job for a very long time, for over forty-five years and this is the first time I have had anything as an actress”underlined the 62-year-old artist, “extremely grateful.”
“Thirty years ago, someone told me I was a ‘popcorn actress’, it was a producer who told me that at the time,” she said, before adding: “I had the impression that it meant that I could make successful films that made a lot of money, but that I would not be recognized by the profession. And I believed in that,” lamented the American actress, moved. In the movie The Substance, she embodies a former Hollywood star addicted to a serum to rejuvenate. 2 Karla Sofia Gascon supports the transgender community

Jury prize at Cannes, the film, awarded four times, tells the story of a Mexican drug lord who orchestrates his disappearance to achieve his gender transition. A film which has particular resonance in the United States, as President-elect Donald Trump has promised to intensify his transphobic offensive from the first day he arrives at the White House.
3 Jacques Audiard dedicates his victory “to all those who feel worried”
Jacques Audiard, director of the multi-awarded Emilia Perez whose filmography gives pride of place to marginal characters, dedicated this victory to “to all those who feel worried today”. The French filmmaker urged them “to keep your head high, to continue fighting and to hope for better days.” “In these troubled times, I would likeEmilia Perez may be a light”, he called again.
4Brady Corbet makes a plea for independent cinema
Another big winner of the evening, the film The Brutalist, nominated seven times, won the trifecta: best dramatic film, best actor for Adrien Brody and best director for Brady Corbet.
The American filmmaker took the opportunity to plead in favor of the independence of directors. “Nobody was asking for a three-and-a-half hour film about a mid-century designer on 70 millimeter film, but it works.”he insisted. In a Hollywood where studios often influence creation, Brady Corbet felt that the final cut should always go to the director.
5 Zoe Saldana’s feminist and emotional speech
“Thank you for paying tribute to our film and thank you for paying tribute to the women ofEmilia Perez“, proclaimed Zoe Saldana, who won the award for best supporting actress.
