Actor Abou Sangaré awarded at the Cannes Film Festival for his role in The Story of Souleymane obtained a residence permit, according to information from “ici Picardie” formerly France Bleu. After three requests refused, Abou Sangaré, moving in the film The Story of Souleymane of Boris Lojkine, obtained a residence permit. He was under an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). He came to collect the precious document on Wednesday January 8 in the morning at the prefecture, in Amiens.
The employee residence permit, valid for one year, notably mentions a promise of employment as a mechanic. Abou Sangaré arrived in France from Guinea at the age of 16. He trained in mechanics and settled in Amiens (Somme). He filed three requests for regularization, each time refused. His story was revealed to the general public in Boris Lojkine’s film, in which he plays a home meal delivery man looking for a residence permit.
In April 2023, Abou Sangaré was spotted by director Boris Lojkine to play Souleymane. The film was presented at the Cannes Film Festival in May in the Un Certain Regard section and received the Jury Prize. For his part, Abou Sangaré received the Male Interpretation Prize.
